The practice of maintaining and developing one's body as an instrument of sustained effort. Training the body to endure discomfort is the most tangible form of practising resilience. Iqbal's recurring image of the shaheen represents vitality: alertness, strength, readiness, the refusal to be domesticated.
Without It
Intellectual capacity is undermined by a body that cannot sustain it. The person fatigues easily, concentrates poorly, and mistakes physical depletion for intellectual limitation.
